Flight Training: We offer free Flight Training to anyone interested in learning to fly! Our instructors can help you on an appointment basis and provide an aircraft along with all the necessary equipment for you to use during your lessons at our field. Welcome to the
Flying Cardinals of Northern KentuckyThe Flying Cardinals of Northern KY is an AMA Chartered Radio Control Flying Club dedicated to exploring and promoting the hobby of building and safely flying all types and sizes of radio-controlled model aircraft.
We believe this hobby can be enjoyed by all and cordially invite anyone interested to come and see what our club is all about! Guests are always welcome at our flying field (when the gates are open with Members present). Come and observe our members "in action" flying their model aircraft.
- Location: 9062 River Road, Hebron Kentucky 41018 Our flying field is located on Route 8 in Hebron Ky, minutes from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). [See the map below]
- Directions:
- Travel to I-275 and take Exit 8a (Hebron KY, Route 237).
- Go north towards the Ohio river until it dead-ends into Route 8 (Approximately 4 miles).
- Turn Left (West) and go approx. 1.5 mile - watch for the Flying Cardinals gate and sign on the right.
- Facilities:
- Flying Field: Our club's runway is 640' long and 60' wide. We have a wide-open flying area over farm land near the Ohio River.
- Shelters: We offer a covered pit area for Members and Trainees complete with aircraft maintenance / charging workstations that include electrical outlets. We also offer a covered Spectator area (not shown above) where the Public is welcome to watch and ask questions anytime our gate is open (when Club Members are present). The site also has a portable toilet.
- Membership: All members are required to also be a member of the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) for liability insurance ($85 annually) and pass a basic flight evaluation before they will receive a Flying Cardinals Pit Pass that is required to fly at our field. All memberships are due January 1st, and prorated if joining later in the year.
- Adult Memberships are $100 annually.
- Junior Memberships (under 18 on January 1st) are FREE for the first year and $25.00 annually thereafter.
